Phyllis Bedells Bursary
The annual Phyllis Bedells Bursary was established in 1979 in honour of
Phyllis Bedells, one of the founding members of the Royal Academy of Dance.
It is a competition open to students who have passed the Academy's Advanced
1 Examination with Distinction. The winner receives a bursary, of up to
£1,000, to further his or her training in the Academy's method.
Dorothy Cox-Scruton Bursary
This bursary commemorates the first Royal Academy of Dance member in Canada,
Mrs. Dorothy Cox-Scruton who spent much of her career pursuing ways for
students to advance their passion for dance without having to travel abroad.
In keeping with the spirit of her vision, RAD/Canada created the Dorothy
Cox-Scruton Bursary to assist first-year Certificate in Ballet Teaching
Studies (CBTS) students pursue their dance teaching career aspirations while
staying Canada. The Bursary is awarded annually in October.
SunDance Summer School Scholarship
Each year, Royal Academy of Dance/Canada awards a SunDance Summer School
participant with a $1,000 scholarship for use towards his or her future
ballet studies, with a guaranteed spot at the next RAD International Summer
School of the recipient's choice. For more information about this summer
